Md. Muddassir Quamar is Associate Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies & Analyses, New Delhi and co-author of the book India’s Saudi Policy: Bridge to the Future (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019). He obtained Ph.D. in Middle East studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2016. As part of his doctoral research, he conducted extensive field work in Saudi Arabia in 2014-15 funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research. He was also associated with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Riyadh as Visiting Fellow.
The growing political and security engagements notwithstanding, the Indo-Saudi economic cooperation has acquired a fresh dynamism in the past few years. It is not only Saudi Arabia which has shown confidence in the Indian market. Indian businesses and industries too have been boosting their presence in the expanding Saudi market.
