Ukraine To Hold Russian Forces In Donetsk

Donetsk city of Ukraine is likely to witness defence at its frontline including the besieged town of Bakhmut with Ukraine’s forces ready to protect the cities of Vuhledar and Maryinka from the raging fiercest battles, according to a media report.

Russia carries out almost 50 attacks every day in Donetsk, a region in Ukraine’s southeast that Moscow has been trying to occupy completely, said Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

He added fierce fighting continues in the area of Vuhledar and Maryinka. And our reliable hold defence in some areas has managed to regain previously lost positions developing strong security.

However, Zaluzhnyi did not highlight the gains. He added Ukraine continues to hold Bakhmut, a stable frontline around the town.

Russia’s Wagner mercenary group has confirmed its forces facing fierce resistance around Bakhmut from Ukrainian defenders.

Britain has stressed that Russian forces are trying to gain north of Bakhmut, but attacking Vuhledar, some 150 kilometres (93 miles) further south is creating a hindrance.

Ukraine’s defence minister tags the attack, “crawling” attempts to move little by little.

While its military analyst Oleh Zhdanov said, the country’s forces manage to hold ground despite Russia’s pressure in Maryinka, a nearly deserted and destroyed small city on the frontline since the start of the war a year ago.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said, the key to success on the battlefield requires an appropriate number of weapons and ammunition.
