Pakistan is "One of the most dangerous states" in the world, with "nuclear weapons without any coherence,” US President Joe Biden said during a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Reception in Los Angeles.
Biden said this regarding Pakistan while discussing US foreign policy toward China and Russia. Biden landed by saying that Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world.
"This is a guy (Xi Jinping) who knows what he wants but has a massive, massive array of issues. How do we deal with that? How do we address this in light of what is going on in Russia? Pakistan, which I believe is one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Nuclear weapons that lack cohesiveness,” Biden said according to the White House press release.
"So, there's a lot going on, people. There's a lot going on. However, the United States has huge chances to change the dynamic in the second quarter of the twenty-first century,” he added.
Biden's words could be interpreted as a setback for the Shehbaz Sharif government's efforts to restore relations with the United States. Also, Pakistan has not mentioned once in the 48-page booklet of the United States National Security Strategy released earlier this week.
According to the National Security Strategy, China and Russia, who proclaimed a "no-limits relationship" earlier this year, are more aligned with each other, but the dangers they offer are distinct.
"We will prioritise retaining a long-term competitive advantage over the China while limiting dangerous Russia, while, rivalry with China is most obvious in the Indo-Pacific, but it is also becoming more worldwide, according to the national strategy document.
According to the US Security Strategy, the next ten years will be a decisive decade of rivalry with China.
