While expressing Pakistan's desire for peace with India, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again raked up the Kashmir issue and demanded to restore Article 370 during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
Sharif said, "We seek peace with all of our neighbours, including India, yet enduring peace and security in South Asia remain reliant on a fair settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict."
He also said, “India needs to make credible moves to foster an atmosphere favourable to productive engagement. We are neighbours and will remain so forever, it is our option whether we live in peace or continue to argue.”
"Since 1947, we have fought three wars, and as a result, misery, poverty, and unemployment have multiplied on both sides. We must now peacefully negotiate and converse in order to overcome our differences, challenges, and problems,” he added.
Regarding Kashmir, India has maintained its steadfast stance that the entire Union Territory is an inseparable part of India.
Pak PM also spoke about Pakistan's situation in the wake of the disastrous floods that struck the nation. He said, "More than 1500 people, including more than 400 children have died in this massive flood. Many more people are at risk of illness and starvation. Millions are still searching for dry land to set up camp on as we speak."
Nearly 6 lakh people living in relief camps whereas 76 lakh affected people have been displaced, according to UNHCR.
