Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, has emphasised the importance of national consensus in steering the country out of its current economic and security challenges, according to a media report.
“Pakistan is at a critical juncture and this necessitates the development of national consensus by all stakeholders to sail through the confronted challenges of economy and terrorism,” Gen Munir was quoted as saying at the parade by the military's media wing, the ISPR, according to the Express Tribune.
The COAS congratulated the commissioning term on successfully completing training and becoming guardians of Pakistan's maritime frontiers.
“The maritime domain is constantly shifting, primarily due to technological advancement, wherein only those navies will prevail and prove effective that align with professionalism and modern warfare trends,” he added.
The army chief praised Pakistan Naval Academy for providing quality education to cadets from friendly countries as well as Pakistani cadets. He advised the young officers to lead by their conduct, character, professional acumen and foresight as future leaders.
The COAS emphasised the importance of focusing on the profession and the demands of modern warfare and directed information operations. Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Commander of Karachi Corps, met the COAS upon his arrival.
