MoD Extends Pro-Rata Pension Benefits To JCOs, ORs With 10 Years Of Service & Who Join PSUs

The Ministry of Defence said on Friday that it extended the benefit of the supply of pro rata pension to JCOs and ORs (junior commissioned officers and other ranks) of the defence services, those who have served for at least 10 years. Previously, this benefit was exclusively available to commissioned officers.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved a proposal from the Department of Ex-Servicemen in this regard, and the ministry issued the required order on 4 November, according to the statement.

The Ministry of Defence has extended the benefit of supply of pro-rata pension to JCOs and ORs of the defence Services who join or joined central public enterprises, central autonomous bodies, and central public sector undertakings on permanent absorption or employment, the release said.

The provisions will apply to JCOs and ORs who are absorbed or appointed in central public sector enterprises or central public sector undertakings on or after 6 March 1985.

However, the ministry stated that the financial benefit in past cases will be granted prospectively from this order's issuance date.
