Increase Training & Battle Readiness Of PLA To Fight And Win, Says Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping said to the Congress on Sunday that the ruling Communist Party will increase personnel training and battle readiness in order to fight and win.

Xi Jinping also said that improve military training under battle situations, emphasising joint force-on-force and high-tech training and establishing a robust system of "strategic deterrence.”

The ruling Communist Party's once-every-five-year Congress started in Beijing on Sunday for a week-long session.

"We will intensify troop training and improve overall combat readiness to ensure that our people's armed forces can fight and win," he said.

Xi also addressed a separate section on the military in his 63-page work report titled Achieving the Central Goal of the PLA and Further Modernising National Defence and Military as he also lead the Central Military Commission.

These details are significant for Indian military forces given the frictions at the Sino-Indian border, particularly in eastern Ladakh, that has been exacerbated by offensive operations by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) that have strained bilateral ties since May 2020.

"We will build a strong strategic deterrence system, increase the proportion of new domain forces with new combat capabilities, accelerate the development of unmanned, intelligent combat capabilities and promote coordinated development and application of the network information system," Xi said in his speech.

"We will enhance our system and capacity for reconnaissance and early warning, joint strikes, battlefield assistance and integrated logistical support," he added.

Beijing has constructed artificial islands and military outposts in the South China Sea. In the East China Sea, China also has territorial conflicts with Japan. However, Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam all claim areas of the disputed South China Sea.

"We will become more skilled at deploying our armed troops on a regular and diverse basis, and our military will remain both resolute and adaptable in its operations. We will be able to form our security posture, deter and manage crises and conflicts, and win local wars as a result of this,” Xi said.

The Chinese President also stated that changes will be implemented at military universities and colleges to establish a strong system for training new military personnel and developing new methods for managing military human resources.

He emphasised solidifying and strengthening unity among the military, the administration, and the people.
