IAF appoints new head of flight safety

Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor, a distinguished military transport pilot, has taken over as Director General (Inspection and Safety) of the Indian Air Force, the highest position for ensuring air safety.

His priority will be to put measures in place ensuring flight safety at a time of heightened operational readiness and stress on the supply lines of spares of Russian origin fleets.

An alumnus of the National Defence College, Air Marshal Kapoor is a Qualified Flying Instructor with more than 7,700 hours of flying experience on various aircraft in the IAF’s inventory.

Prior to taking over as head of flight safety, he was commandant of the National Defence Academy. During the course of his 36-year career with the IAF, Air Marshal Kapoor has served as Principal Director Operations (Transport) and Head of Faculty and Senior Air Force Instructor at the College of Defence Management.
