Govt Outlaws TRF, Designates LeT Launching Commander Mohammed Amin As Terrorist

The Resistance Front, a front for the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, was declared a prohibited organisation on Thursday.

According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, The Resistance Front (TRF) is recruiting youth through the internet for the purpose of furthering terrorist activities, recruiting terrorists, infiltrating terrorists and smuggling weapons and narcotics from Pakistan into Jammu and Kashmir.

The group was formed in 2019 as a front for the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was involved in a number of terrorist acts, including the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11.

The group conducts psychological operations on social media platforms in order to incite people in Jammu and Kashmir to join terrorist organisations fighting the Indian government.

Sheikh Sajjad Gul, according to the home ministry, is a commander of The Resistance Front and has been designated as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967.

The group's activities are harmful to India's national security and sovereignty. A large number of cases have also been filed against The Resistance Front's members and associates.

The group was declared a banned organisation by the home ministry due to all of its subversive activities.

The government also designated Mohammed Amin, alias Abu Khubaib, a Jammu and Kashmir native who now resides in Pakistan, as an individual terrorist.

He is the launching commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba and has formed close ties with cross-border agencies and played a critical role in reviving and accelerating LeT terrorist activities in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir.

From across the border, Khubaib has been involved in coordinating terrorist attacks, supplying arms or weapons and explosives, and financing terror in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to another notification, the government designated Khubaib as an individual terrorist under the UAPA for all of his terrorist activities.
