Government Approves Creation Of Weapon Systems Branch On IAF Day

On Air Force Day, the government approved the creation of the Weapon Systems (WS) branch, which will be a new branch under the Air Force.

According to the statement, the creation of the WS branch would entail the unification of all weapon system operators under one entity, dedicated to the operational employment of all ground-based and specialist airborne weapon systems.

The branch would overview operators in four specialised streams; surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, remotely piloted aircraft and weapon system operators in twin or multi-crew aircraft.

The newly created branch will contribute immensely by enhancing the warfighting capability of the Indian Air Force, according to the Ministry.

On the occasion, the Indian Air Force's (IAF) new battle uniform design was also unveiled by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
