On Monday, Germany announced that it will send long-promised air defence systems to Ukraine, capable of covering a whole city after Russia launched a missile attack on the country.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Twitter that the recent Russian strikes are "despicable," and "we are doing everything to bolster Ukraine's air defences."
In June, Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to send the highly modern IRIS-T systems that could protect a big city from air strikes. The shielding range of the IRIS-T system is 20 kilometres (12 miles) high and 40 kilometres wide.
Germany had previously planned to deliver the first of five missile shield systems by the end of the year, but Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said the first will now be "available for effective protection of people in the next few days."
The recent rocket attacks on Kyiv and many other cities clearly show air defence systems.
