French Minister Of Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu Visits INS Vikrant

A French high-level delegation led by Minister of Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu visited the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant on Sunday. 

The delegation interacted with Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command onboard Vikrant. 

Minister acknowledged India's indigenous potential and self-reliance. 

According to the defence ministry statement, the discussions ranged from enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest to the maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean region. The visit further consolidated the strategic bilateral relations between both countries, the ministry added.

Recently, at the India-France strategic dialogue, both countries resolved to expand the defence and security partnership by enhancing intelligence sharing, bolstering capabilities, expanding military drills and pursuing new initiatives in maritime, space and cyber domains.

France also continues to steadfastly back India on Kashmir while its relations with Pakistan have plummeted in the recent past and China has become an object of suspicion.
