The situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in the Eastern Theatre is calm and under control, Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita said on Monday.
He also said that the Indian Army is fully prepared to deal with any situation.
Kalita added that the focus of the Indian Army has been to enhance its military capability and increase surveillance of activities by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) along the LAC.
The situation in the area of eastern theatre is stable and there has been no major change. The eastern theatre largely covers the border areas along the LAC in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh including Tawang and North Sikkim areas.
Kalita said that the army is now in a better position to monitor its area of interest in the eastern theatre with various platforms such as drones, helicopters and digital surveillance equipment by augmenting the border infrastructure close to China.
He assured that the Indian Army is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality in the eastern theatre.
India has been developing infrastructure along the nearly 3,500-km-long LAC since the standoff in eastern Ladakh began in 2020.
He further said that we have a strong mechanism in line with bilateral agreements to avert any emerging situation in the region.
Earlier, Indian and Chinese armies announced on Thursday that they had started retreating from 'Patrolling Point 15' in the Gogra-Hotsprings area of eastern Ladakh.
