Defence Minister Rajnath Singh To Brief Foreign Envoys On Aero India On 9 Jan

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will brief foreign envoys on Aero India on 9 January in Delhi.

The 14th edition of ‘Aero India 2023’ will be held from 13 to 17 February 2023 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru (Karnataka), according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence.

The five-day event will include a major aerospace and defence trade exhibition as well as an aerial display by the IAF. Aside from global leaders and major investors in the aerospace industry, think tanks from around the world will attend the show.

Aero India will offer a one-of-a-kind platform for the exchange of information, ideas and new developments in the aviation industry. In addition to boosting the domestic aviation industry, it would help the Make in India movement.

Aero India 2021 attracted delegates from over 55 countries and over 540 exhibitors.

Earlier in the day, the Defence Minister spoke at the inauguration of the strategically important Siyom bridge in the frontier state's Siang district.

Singh stated that while the country does not believe in war, it will fight if it is forced to.

“We oppose war, but if it is forced upon us, we will fight. We are ensuring that the country is safe from all threats. Our Armed Forces are prepared and it is encouraging to see the BRO (Border Road Organisation) walking alongside them,” Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister said in the Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. 

Rajnath Singh emphasised that the goal is to build a strong and self-sufficient ‘New India’ capable of dealing with future challenges posed by the ever-changing global scenario.

“Today, the world is witnessing a number of conflicts. India has always been opposed to war. That's our policy. PM Narendra Modi recently drew the world's attention to that resolve when he declared, this is not the era of war,” Singh said.

The Defence Minister also emphasised the BRO's critical role in bolstering the country's security through border infrastructure development.

The physical inauguration of the strategically important Siyom Bridge took place at the event on Along-Yinkiong Road, while the other projects were dedicated to the nation virtually. The Siyom Bridge is a modern 100-meter-long Class 70 Steel ArchSuperstructure Siyom Bridge that spans the Siyom River in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Defence Minister has also issued a Compendium on New Technologies on occasion. It incorporates the most recent technologies used by the BRO in the construction of roads, bridges, airfields and tunnel infrastructure to mitigate the effects of remote and hostile terrain, as well as adverse weather conditions, which adversely affect the quality of civil engineering works and the completion timelines.
