BSF Shoots Down Drone Along International Border In Punjab

Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a quadcopter sporting drone along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab's Amritsar district on Sunday night. This is the second such incident along the international border in the last two days.
“BSF personnel from the 22 Battalion foiled a drone intrusion by shooting down an Octa-copter (8 propellers) in Amritsar's border outpost, Rania around 9.15 p.m. The drone weighs approximately 12 kg. Further details will be provided," the BSF official said.
According to the BSF, a package loaded and transported by the drone was also retrieved.
On Friday, the BSF shot down a drone that had infiltrated Indian territory near Bhaini Gill village, which falls under the Ajnala sub-division of the Amritsar district.
The incident occurred at about 4.30 a.m. when staff on duty noticed a buzzing sound. According to the drill party, the troops fired in an attempt to intercept the supposed flying object. The entire area was cordoned off and the police and other authorities were notified.
"Jawans brought the drone down from the 73rd Battalion, who were stationed in the area of responsibility of the Shahpur border outpost (BoP)." Our men on duty demonstrated agility, accuracy and bravery. The drone was shot down shortly after crossing into Indian territory," said Prabhakar Joshi, deputy inspector general (DIG), Gurdaspur range.
