Army Inducts Indigenous Armoured Vehicles For Troop Carrier In Ladakh

On Friday, the Indian Army's Fire and Fury corps inducted indigenous high mobility personnel carriers and 4x4 Quick Reaction Force Vehicles for operations in the Ladakh zone.

The first consignment of 4x4 armoured vehicles has been prepared for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. These vehicles will add capabilities to the military in difficult and challenging terrains.

The first consignment of these vehicles to Jammu and Kashmir was formally received by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi from the officials of Bharat Forge Limited at the Command Headquarters at Udhampur. The Northern Command deployed these vehicles for the Quick Reaction Force (QRF). QRF is a special unit of the Army. It is capable of swift military action in emergency situations.

Northern Command issued the following tweet: "Northern Command receives 4x4 Quick Reaction Force Vehicles, an indigenous initiative by Bharat Forge Limited, which is an all-terrain, high mobility combat troop carrier with armour and mine protection," the Indian Army's Northern Command tweeted.

However, there is a military standoff between China and India in eastern Ladakh for the last two years. The forces of both countries have been withdrawn from some areas, but disputes still persist over many areas. In June 2020, there was a violent clash between the armies of the two countries in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.
