Another United States (US) congressional delegation arrived in Taiwan and met President Sai In Weng on Thursday amid the tensions between China and the island nation.
On Thursday, the delegation led by Democratic Party member Stephanie Murphy met with the Taiwanese President. Referring to China's military threats, Tsai said the delegation's visit “reflects the steadfast support of the US Congress to Taiwan.”
Ealier, the high-profile visit of Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi created a stir in the Aisa.
Meanwhile, China has been opposing the visits of US officials to Taiwan, however, recently more and more officials are coming to the country.
Last week, US President Joe Biden approved a USD 1 billion arms sale to Taiwan.
By reacting to this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said on Wednesday that China's objection to defence cooperation between Washington and Taipei was “clear”.
