Amid Rise In Pak's Drone Intrusion, Indian Army To Procure 750 Drones

The Indian Army has issued an emergency request for 750 drones, apparently in response to Pakistan's continued use of drones along the international boundary and the Line of Control (LoC).
The Indian Army's latest order of drones is being interpreted as an effort to empower special forces to carry out operations behind enemy lines. Fast-track procedures were used to establish the requirement for remotely piloted aerial vehicles.
"The Indian Army has published a tender for the procurement of 750 remotely piloted aerial vehicles (RPAVs) under fast-track procedures under the government’s emergency procurement powers provided to Defence Forces," Indian Army officials said as reported by news agency ANI.
According to the officials, the need for specific equipment for the para unit will increase the capability of Indian Army formations charged with carrying out special missions behind enemy lines.
What will these RPAVs do for the Indian Army?
"The current dangerous situation along the northern borders necessitates procuring operational equipment as soon as possible. The RPAV is a powerful situational awareness gadget that allows day and night monitoring as well as the capacity to scan the target region,” officials said.
According to the statement released by the Indian Army, the RPAVs are required to process 3D scanned images of the target to undertake unique tasks, apparently to counter Pakistan's malicious schemes along the border. "This technology will be used for situational awareness, short-range surveillance, scanning the target area and presenting the processed 3D image of the target before entering the target area," according to officials.
The para (SF) troops will carry out a variety of operations, including pinpoint precision strikes, the destruction of high-value targets and command and control, including enemy leadership. This comes when multiple Pakistani drones have been seen near international boundaries. As previously reported, 13 of the 23 Pakistani drones have been shot down so far this year.
