16 Army Personnel Killed In Road Accident In Sikkim

16 Army jawans were killed and four others were injured after their vehicle skidded down a steep slope near North Sikkim
The vehicle was part of a three-vehicle convoy that had travelled from Chatten to Thangu in the morning. The vehicle was involved in an accident en route to Zema.
16 Army personnel have lost their lives and four were injured in a road accident involving an Army truck at Zema, North Sikkim. The accident happened when the vehicle skidded down a steep slope while negotiating a sharp turn, the Indian Army said.
According to the Indian army, The ill-fated vehicle was part of a 3-vehicle convoy that had moved from Chatten in the morning towards Thangu. En route at Zema, the truck skidded down a steep slope while negotiating a sharp turn. A rescue mission was immediately launched and 4 injured soldiers air evacuated.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
Deeply pained by the loss of lives of the Indian Army personnel due to a road accident in North Sikkim. The nation is deeply grateful for their service and commitment. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of those who are injured, Rajnath Singh said in a tweet on Friday.
